Waikanae SLSC

Waikanae’s qualified lifeguards provide over 1500 hours of voluntary beach patrol every summer.

Waikanae SLSC has been patrolling the beach and keeping our community safe in the water since 1950.

The enormous amount of volunteer hours that lifeguards provide over summer months are a huge benefit to our community, as well as the many visitors that enjoy the beach when they are in Gisborne.

Waikanae SLSC have up to 150 young people on the beach on Sunday mornings learning how to look after themselves in the water. Many of those kids don't have access to the kind of equipment the club provide for them.

The club not only provides a valuable public service, it also helps to build kids into great adults.

The values, discipline and water safety skills they learn stay with them all their lives.

This fund helps Waikanae SLSC provide the invaluable lifeguard service they provide to our community and continue offering varied courses and services. It may also be used to help the club purchase much needed equipment.
