The Sunrise Foundation Operating Expenses Endowment Fund has been established to strengthen the long-term sustainability of Sunrise Foundation.
Seeded by a generous group of anonymous local donors, this fund has been created with a clear purpose: to help cover the day-to-day operating costs of Sunrise so that we can continue to grow endowments and distribute grants across Gisborne-Tairāwhiti for generations to come.
Sunrise operates on a lean budget and is careful with every dollar. Only 1% of all donations received are allocated towards operating costs, significantly less than most other charities. This ensures that the vast majority of every gift is invested and grown for the community.
However, until Sunrise becomes fully self-sustaining through investment income, we remain reliant on funders, donors and sponsors to help support our operational needs.
The founding donors hope this fund will continue to grow through additional contributions from others who value the role Sunrise plays in our region.
Donations of any size are welcomed and appreciated. Every contribution helps build a stable foundation that supports the work we do across arts, education, environment, social services, sport and more throughout Gisborne–Tairāwhiti.
