Sunrise supports charities and community organisations that have a charitable purpose in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne (the area covered by the Gisborne District Council).

Since we launched in 2014 we have awarded grants with a total value of $1,338,500 to worthy causes across the arts, education, environment, health, social services and sports communities in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne.

When you can apply 

We do one funding round per annum, applications for 2024 will open on 4th June and close on 16th July 2024. Applications will be notified by 25th September and Grants paid by 18th October 2024.

Who can apply

Eligibility and funding priorities are decided each year by the Sunrise Grants Committee and set out in our funding policy.
