Gisborne Volunteer Coastguard are our regions primary maritime search and rescue organisation, powered by volunteers.
They have a vision to help everyone get the best out of their time on the water, safely and with confidence.
Whatever a person's waka of choice is, be it a boat, jet ski, or kayak, they're side by side with all water-users, no mater what the situation.
Gisborne Volunteer Coastguard collaborate with government-led search and rescue services such as the police to co-ordinate major marine rescues. The government funds only 40 percent of their operating costs so Gisborne Volunteer Coastguard are reliant on the generosity of everyday people to support the lifesaving work they do, on and off the water.
An endowment fund with Sunrise Foundation has been established to create an enduring legacy and secure long-term financial security and self-sustainability.
Any donation made to their fund stays local, directly benefiting their fund and the people living in the region who may need their help.
