Bob and Aileen Harris gifted their estate to Sunrise when they passed away.

Their son Mike, and his wife Trish, choose some of the causes that receive grants from the investment income received from their named endowment fund.

One of the causes they chose last year was Gisborne Intermediate. Trish says "both Mike and I are ex-teachers so we know from experience how much schools struggle. There was many a time I would dip in to my own pocket to pay for stuff I needed for my students."

GisInt used their grant to buy a Ki-o-rahi set for the many teams at their school that play the traditional Maori game.
