Supporting Sunrise Behind the Scenes

Janine McDiarmid and Glenda Stokes (Sunrise) with Michelle Duley (centre), CEO of YMCA Gisborne — one of the many community groups Sunrise works alongside.

Sunrise Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of a new Operating Expenses Endowment Fund, made possible through the generosity of a group of local anonymous donors.

This fund has been created to support Sunrise’s essential day-to-day operating costs. While the impact of Sunrise is seen through the many groups and causes we support, the work that makes this possible happens quietly in the background.

Sunrise Chair Rob Dymock says the fund is both humbling and deeply appreciated.

“We are incredibly grateful for this support. The team is very mindful of every dollar we spend and the costs we incur, but the reality is that we rely on the generosity of funders and sponsors to help cover operating costs. This fund is a meaningful vote of confidence in the work we do and the care we take in doing it.”

By strengthening Sunrise behind the scenes, this endowment fund allows us to focus on what we do best, supporting local causes and backing great ideas across  Tairāwhiti, now and into the future.

We’d also like to acknowledge the funding support of Trust Tairāwhiti, who have been alongside Sunrise since our inception and played an important role in helping us establish strong foundations for our work in the region. We are also very grateful to have secured funding from Eastland & Central Community Trust (ECCT) for the next two years. This support provides real reassurance as we continue building towards a fully self-sustaining model.

Donations to this fund are warmly welcomed, so we can continue supporting our region well into the future.
