A new endowment fund has been established for The Y Gisborne, creating a lasting investment in the wellbeing of our community and helping secure the future of one of Tairāwhiti's longest-serving community organisations.

For generations, The Y Gisborne has been a place where people of all ages can belong, grow, contribute, and thrive. Through early childhood education, after-school care, youth development, health and fitness, recreation and community spaces, The Y provides opportunities for people to build confidence, strengthen relationships and lead healthier, more connected lives.

It is also a community hub, with its facilities supporting many local groups and organisations. The new endowment fund will help ensure these places, programmes and opportunities continue to evolve and respond to the changing needs of our community for generations to come.

Held with Sunrise Foundation, the fund provides a permanent source of support. Every donation is invested, with the capital protected forever. The investment income is then distributed annually to The Y Gisborne, creating sustainable funding that will strengthen services, maintain community facilities and support future initiatives.

Chief Executive Michelle Duley says the fund reflects The Y's commitment to thinking beyond today.

"Our role is to create opportunities that strengthen people and communities, not just for this generation, but for those that follow. This endowment fund is about leaving a legacy of belonging, wellbeing and opportunity for the people of Tairāwhiti."

Community members, families, businesses and supporters can all contribute, knowing their gift will continue making a difference for future generations.
