Sunrise move to BDO offices a 'no-brainer'

Sunrise staff appreciate the warm welcome they have received from BDO. Left to Right: Chris Torrie, Mike Torrie, Tanya Torrie, Richard Briant, Glenda Stokes (Sunrise Executive Officer), Charles Rau, Janine McDiarmid, Lynda Blackburne.

Executive officer, Glenda Stokes, says “The move’s been fabulous. Everyone at BDO is so friendly and it’s great being able to access the resources and technology here and network and connect with professionals.”

BDO partner Kylee Potae says “It’s a no-brainer" when asked whether Sunrise would be a good fit for their offices. “Sunrise has similar values to us at BDO. We are both dedicated to building a strong future for Tairawhiti forever where we can give back beyond our years.”

“We want a community that’s like the safe, fun community we grew up in and Sunrise has an opportunity to address the inequities that exist by supporting locally where the need is greatest.”

Managing partner Mike Torrie likes that all bequests and donations to Sunrise are invested in endowment funds in perpetuity (forever) with the balance of the income distributed to worthy local causes. This helps to build a strong Tairawhiti forever.

Mike says, “Having Sunrise here is a benefit to us both. By helping Sunrise we are helping the community too. It’s good to be able to help serve the community and help those most in need.”
