John has led Sunrise since its inception and will remain as a trustee for a further year. The growth of Sunrise under his leadership is years ahead of what was expected, with local funds invested now over $6.6 million.
“Sunrise’s success reflects the generosity of our donors who are passionate about making Tairāwhiti better for future generations,” says John. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.”
Sunrise executive officer, Glenda Stokes says, “We so appreciate everything John has done for Sunrise over the years, he really has gone above and beyond.”
Our Sunrise team are excited to welcome Rob as our new chairperson. With experience as a trustee and time working on Sunrise’s grants committee, Rob says she is looking forward to the new role.
“These are big shoes to fill, but I’m honoured to be able to support the Sunrise team to fulfil our obligations to our amazing donors and community.”
Increasing the number of regular donors to Sunrise’s General fund via workplace giving is an area Rob hopes to foster.
“Our General fund is where we grant from, and how Sunrise makes the biggest impact in our community. If we can grow the number of regular donors, it allows us to support more local people in need.”
